Handbags You Can Knockoff

Handbags 2 - Designer Knockoffs

Handbags 2

Nancy Zieman and I have seen so many versions of Designer Handbags (our first handbag embroidery collection and book), we decided to create a second series, Designer Knockoffs, Handbags 2.  This collection focuses on trendy grommets, beautiful and functional pockets plus in-the-hoop techniques. I have to admit, I love these new bags!  Let me show you my favorite details.

The grommets are highlighted by subtle embroidered details while precisely stitched cut lines are hidden underneath the grommets. This combo of function and beauty guarantees success for all embroiderers and produces extremely professional results.

I think many of you would agree that the best part of making your own bag is customizing it to your needs. Nancy shares her coveted technique for making interior pockets and I love how my personal items – cellphone, nail file, pen and more – each have a special storage spot, nestled under a monogrammed label! Love that! Interior Pocket

If you’re a fan of exterior pockets, then you’ll enjoy a roomy exterior pocket like the Scallop lace pocket – created in the hoop.  It looks complicated but I’ve added some key elements to make the continuous embroidery easy to duplicate. I share two continuous embroidery techniques in the book – applicable to any embroidery machine. Scalloped Pocket

In addition to the book, Nancy invited me to teach the whole process on Sewing with Nancy. You can watch online here. Of course, what you see on television doesn’t reveal all of the prep that goes into taping or writing or book. And it always seems to start with my suitcase practically imploding in Nancy’s office. Truth be told, there’s nothing glamorous about this career. Even the airline employees shake their head when see how many bags I check for such short journeys!  Packed suitcase

But once it’s all sorted out in the conference room, we make a list and then divide and conquer. Sorting

Nancy handles the script and tricky sewing details and I man the embroidery machine.Embroidery machine

After a bit, okay – HOURS of stitching, we’re ready to pack the van to head to the studio. Van

And before you know it, we’re sitting on the set of Sewing with Nancy. Sewing with Nancy

And now Designer Knockoffs, Handbags 2, is available for you to watch and make your own bags. I can’t wait to see the fabrics and grommets you select.  Before you get started, tell me what your favorite bag is: the red diamond bag, teal scallop pocket purse, the green starburst bag or the small clutch.  Two lucky winners will get an autographed copy of Designer Knockoffs, Handbags 2.  Bags-1

Here’s your assignment this week:

Tell me which of the bags above is your favorite; the red diamond, teal scallop pocket purse, green starburst or the small clutch. Two lucky winners will get an autographed copy of Designer Knockoffs, Handbags 2! Good luck.

The winner of last week’s assignment:

Thanks for the help with my holiday linen update! Leave a question below that you’d like me to answer. I’ll answer one random question and award an open flat stocking you can personalize this holiday season. Good luck!

The winner is Gail M.

Q: When will “Sewing with Nancy” broadcast the Handbags 2 Designer Knockoffs? It was advertised in the latest issue of your magazine that it was to be broadcast on November 24th. It was not on her show last Saturday up here in Michigan.

A: Gail you can watch the show now online, just click here. And congratulations on winning the flat stocking!

    • Mrs Chris Simmonds

I am so thrilled to have found your website and adore the teal bag. I’m new to machine embroidery so look forward to your further newsletters. Chris

  • Colleen Bell

Oh, it is so hard to choose between the teal scallop pocket purse and the small clutch, but I would use the purse more, so that is my choice. I do love the lace in both of those designs and see many ways to them. Count the teal scallop pocket purse as my first choice. Thank you so much for offering this for free and especially thank you for all your hard work in developing another great line of purses.

  • Terry Brinkley

Eileen, I like all of them. But, I am a big fan of being organized so the blue/white, lace exterior pocket one would have to be my favorite to help me keep my essentials, (keys, cell phone and sunglasses), handy. 🙂

  • DB

I think the teal scallop pocket purse is absolutely awesome!! Thanks for the ideas. And so excited for you to actually meet Nancy let alone do a segment on her show! I love her.

  • Barbara Stickle

I want to make the teal scallop pocket purse.

  • Lynn Poulin

Hard to pick, but my first choice is the teal scallop. It looks girly but practical

  • Illyse sheaffer

They are all beautiful! I personally can’t pick a favorite – SO I’m guessing you love them all too! They’re all a favorite! lol

  • Joyce

I think they are all gorgeous! I especially like the red, but then I like the green, and the teal……LOL hard to choose!

  • Cathy

I love the teal scallop packet purse. You know I really love all if them. Can pick all. lol.

  • Dee

I am such a fan of exterior pockets that I have to choose the teal with lace. Also love the scallops on the pocket.

  • Carma

I love the Red Diamond bag! They are all really awesome though!

  • Vickie Yanik

I love them all, but I would have to choose the teal scallop pocket purse as my favorite!

  • Jean Lowenberger

Love them all! What a wonderful idea, a second book of designer handbags. Tis the season for Christmas I like the red diamond one best.

  • Cheryl

Wow, they are all great looking it is hard to pick which one I like best. My first thought is the teal one because I love the color and the scallop gives a nice touch to make it a bir girly. Then I look at the red and love the simplicity and style of it. But hold on, the green is a great size and has nice long straps to go on shoulder comfortably. And last, but not least, small clutch is so useful and i always have a small clutch inside any of my purses so that it is easier to locate those items that otherwise fall to the bottom of bigger purses. Can I just pick them all!!!!

  • Cynthia Wentworth

They are all wonderful.but if I have to pick, the teal scallop pocket purse would be my choice. My daughter would pick the red.

  • Donna N.

Teal scallop and small clutch, maybe because I love the lacy look.
Can any of it be done in a 5 X 7 field only, as that is all I have?

    • eileenroche
      AUTHOR

Donna – you’re in luck. All of the bags can be made in a 5″ x 7″ hoop!

  • Debbie Cossins

Love them all, but the teal is my favorite!

  • Cyndy

Definately teal. I’ve been wanting to learn to do those corners

  • Kathy Anderson

I love the blue with the scallops. Need something girly when it temperatures are in the minus area and you are bundled up to your ears.

  • Desiree Kumpf

It’s a hard choice, as they’re all beautiful! But the teal scallop pocket purse jumps out at me more. I can’t wait to make one to gift to myself! Then I could start on next year’s gift making (if I was one of those organized people.)

  • Beverly

I want the scalloped purse in green so I guessing will have to make it myself when I win!

  • Denise

I’d have to say teal scallop, but it’s a tough choice!

  • Becky

I think I like the red most, but love them all. Love how red and green leave room for personalization, like a monogram too!

  • Roberta

    definitely scalloped pocket–it’s so pretty!

  • Maxine Mac Neill

I have the first series and I am so looking forward to doing these bags. So easy and so much fun. I like the Teal Scallop bag, not that the others aren’t as gorgeous. Keep em coming.

Teal scallop, hands down. Next choice is the small clutch. Thanks for asking and for the new designs.

  • Lorri Duff

    Absolutely love the teal scallop!!

  • Kim Watson

The teal scallop is my favorite. Very feminine looking. I also like the small clutch.

  • Anne Marie Reilly

The teal bag with the scallop outside pocket is my favorite, although I do like the small clutch a lot.

  • Judy Slape

I love them all too. But- my favorite is the change purse. I can see making those for all my friends

  • Donna F

Its a very hard choice between the teal scalloped bag and the red one. I think the teal one is my favorite.

  • Chris

I love the teal scallop pocket purse. The color speaks to me, and then those pockets are a great bonus!

  • Peggy Schroeder

Hi Eileen, Love the red one, the teal is pretty, but with the beige scallops and embroidery, the first thing that comes to mind to me is that it looks like a pair of women’s underwear! They are all nice, but I just love red.

A question for you: what would the best kind of stabilizer and monogram you would put on a 100% cashmere scarf? Have several to do for Christmas, and as they are VERY expensive, don’t want to make a mistake.

Thanks for all of your help, and I hope to be able to go to your Stitching Sisters event in Sacramento again. Just going two times is not enough.

    • eileenroche
      AUTHOR

      Hi Peggy,
Nice to hear from you. Cashmere…ooh that’s pricey material. I don’t have a lot of experience stitching on cashmere but here’s how I would approach it. I would use a polymesh cut-away in a color as close to the scarf as possible (black polymesh for a dark cashmere, white or beighe for light tones). After the embroidery, I would trim the polymesh close to the stitching.

Another option would be to use organza as a stabilizer because you could match the organza to the color of the scarf. it’s just as stable as polymesh.

I suggest testing the design on wool – doesn’t have to be cashmere but it should similar in weight and knit (tight, loose, open, etc). Then use the results of the test to work on the cashmere. Good luck with this Peggy – you can do it!

Happy Holidays to you and your family.

      • Peggy Schroeder

Thanks, Eileen, I will give it a try. I don’t have a lot of time to sew right now, my husband is going through chemotherapy for terminal cancer, so I bought pre-made scarves, just did not have time to sew and embroider, so of course, the embroidery won! I just do not want to make any mistakes on them, so I need all the help I can get, as I have never embroidered on cashmere until now. I have four daughters, along with their spouses, 13 grands, and 3 great-grands, all of which are mostly girls. I thought these would be easy and fast to do, but they aren’t. I think it is my fear of making a mess of them that makes it so slow. I thought bridal tulle would be good for a topper, and that can be trimmed right up close to the stitches. I use it a lot, and have never had a problem with the stitching peeking through.
Thanks so much for the advice, I do appreciate it, and have a great holiday season. Best wishes to you and Pete.

    • Barbara McKenzie

Oh, Peggy – I’m so glad I’m not the only one! All I can see when I look at the teal purse is underwear…..pretty underwear, but underwear! So I’m afraid that pattern is spoiled for me. 🙁

      • D Bartlett

I like the red and also the lime. I would emb. on the front of them.

      • Peggy Schroeder

Barbara, I agree! But maybe, if it was done with a black pocket, or there wasn’t such a stark difference in the two colors, it might be okay, but I am afraid if I tried to make it, I would still think of pretty, lacy, underwear. Not just prety, but beautiful, underwear! Love the great embroidery, though.

      • Peggy Schroeder

Barbara, maybe it would be okay if there was not such a stark difference in the colors, or maybe black. I don’t know, I think if I tried to make it, I could not get the underwear vision out of my head. It is really beautiful lace, but still—–? I thought, like you, I was the only one!
        Have a great holiday.

  • Roberta B

I really like the coin purse and the blue bag. I’ve wanted to make my own purse for quit awhile, I just haven’t had the courage to make one yet.

  • Dianne Frazier

My eye was immediately drawn to the teal and lace, though they are all lovely. I would make every one on them and probably will. The first one I would make is the teal, and I can hardly wait to begin! That is definitely my first choice. I’m really interested in making the change purse–that will be something I’ve not tried. These are all really impressive purses…

  • Delores T

    Love the lace scallop. Pretty!!

  • Charlotte Silber

Love the teal purse. I have four daughters, I could really have making them each one in their favorite colors. Thanks.

  • Paula Roney

They are all beautiful but my favorite is the Red bag. I love the Red and Tan combo!

  • Rosemary

Definitely like the Teal Scallop Pocket Purse. I definitely need to make one or two or five. Love it.

  • Ginger Sheppard

Before I even watch the video, I think I like the teal scallop pocket purse the most! Just love the scallop part of it and of course, I like the teal and beige colors. I already have the original handbag pattern and embroidery designs, and would love to have the new Designer Knockoff Handbags 2 book to go with it! I am ready for another homemade purse from your collection! Thanks

  • Patti Jones

I like the teal scallop the best. It’s very feminine without being overly so. I love making handbags and would love to have this book to make gifts with.

  • Dina Salsbery

Teal scallop is perfect. I love outside pockets. Put a zipper to keep things from falling out & it’s perfect. Oh yeah… Making a hidden pocket inside for my concealed weapon finishes it off.

  • Marilyn H

I love the red diamond handbag. I love the grommets used on these bags!

  • Doris Van Peeren

I like the “teal scallop” purse because I love having outside pockets. I also like “zipped” inside pockets and dividers for my phone, credit card holder, etc. Thanks for doing such a great job keeping up interested in embroidering purses in the hoop.

  • JoAnn Shipp

    I love the teal scallop.

  • Beth

Oh they are all so pretty! But I would have to say the teal scallop. I love scallops.

  • Connie W

I have to pick the red diamond as my favorite, even though I love every one of them! I just finished making the “Airborne Bag”, which is a Christmas gift for my daughter. I used a zebra print with deep orange accent fabric, to match her luggage. Then I added a “purse” luggage tag to match, from the Shelly Smola “All for Me” collection. Can’t wait to give it to her!

    • eileenroche
      AUTHOR

      That’s adorable! she’s a lucky girl!

  • Marichu M

The teal scallop is my favorite.

  • Oh boy! I am a winner!
I found the first video online last week and watched the second yesterday morning before I went to work. I ordered the book and got it last Friday. I made the lace pocket bag the next day. Great directions.
Thanks for the flat Christmas stocking prize.

I like the red bag the best. This looks like a great after Christmas project for me 🙂

  • Wanda Keller

    Teal scallop. Looks kinda heirloomish

  • Liz

Oh, I just love that Teal Scallop! Through my computer it looks all lacy at the scallops. How pretty.

  • Barb

I love them all, but if I have to choose one, it’s the teal with scallops. This would be a stretch for me embroidery skill- wize. I’ll watch the show and everything will make sense.

  • Laura G

I like the red diamond style the best, but they are all lovely. Great job designing the new bags!

  • Mary

The teal scallop pocket purse gets my vote.

  • Betty

    I love the teal scallop.

  • RSM

    teal scallop

  • Gerry

The teal scallop is my favorite!

  • Mari

WOW! These are all great but the teal scallop is very innovative…and is my favorite. Thanks!!

  • Beth R

I love the teal scallop pocket purse – unique!

I like the red diamond one the best.
You can’t go wrong with diamonds. 🙂

  • Paula Somers

I love this that are unique and the Teal handbag is the one I like the most. It has many unique (but beautiful qualities) and I definitely would like to make others like it.

  • Janna

That’s a difficult decision to make, they are all great! Teal is a favorite color of mine so drawn to it, however, I’m picking the green bag! It is beautiful in its simplicity, a bag I could use anywhere!

  • Kathy Booth

I like the scallop purse for practicality with a touch of class and uniqueness for myself, but I just adore the clutch as something to make for gifts for my daughters-in-law.

  • Sandy

I love the red one. Red being my favorite color, I’m drawn to that one. But they are all really cute.

  • Karen Hazen

I definitely love the teal purse. I am partial to the color combo, and I love the outside pocket. But most of all the scallops really set the purse off!

  • Karen Poole

I absolutely LOVE the Teal scallop bag, but the red bag is a close second!

  • Jean

All of the bags are great, but I am partial to the teal bag.

  • Alice Garcia

    Teal Scallop!!!!!

  • Theresa Lindal

I really love the red bag as it would go well with a lot of my clothes, especially denim. They all are great though, really neat designs.

  • Susie Mackenberg

Hi, I like the teal scallop one the best. Scallops are always so pretty, though a pain to make and center in a project. Bags are my weakness, and love to make ’em!

  • Kristine

I love the yellow one for it’s simplicity. Love the way the grommets are prominent on all of the bags. Would like to combine different ones for a new look. Great bags overall. Bags are my down fall, love making and using them.
    Kris

  • Pam

Teal scallop! Cute! Also like the clutch, close second.

  • Mary

I love the teal bag. I like outside pockets.

  • Gail Beam

They are all fabulous, so it was very hard to pick a favorite, but I think I will choose the red bag.
    Gail

  • shirley simmons

    I love the scalloped purse!!!

  • Kathy M

Love the teal scallop. Can’t wait to make it!

    I love the red diamond!

  • Sandra Cruywagen

Love them all, but love the red diamond more!

  • Carolyn Rollberg

  • Eileen L

It’s hard to choose just one, but I would make the teal scallop purse first.

  • Sue R

I love them all but teal scallop is my favorite 🙂 I also have all the other DVD’s & books for your bags. I love doing them and would love to add this one to my collection.

  • Joaniez

Hi, I love the teal handbag the best, but I would love to make all of them, they would make wonderful gifts for the holidays!

I like all of them, but my favorite is the scalloped one. I am looking forward to making several of them, along with the clutch. Keep up the great work!!

  • Maggie

The teal scallop pocket purse is my favorite! I like the outter pocket for keys and phone.

  • Valerie Brown

That teal scallop bag is so feminine and yet functional. I can’t wait to see that in other colors like black and tan, or red and tan. I just love it!

  • Maga

It is very hard to choose; they are all lovely. I think I like the green bag best but that is just because I have a bad back so I prefer a smaller bag; I always think I need to carry everything AND the kitchen sink 😉
Thank you for the chance to win.

  • Sandra

I like the teal and customizable pockets.

  • Teresa Wavra

Love all these new handbag designs. I have made 6 of the Designer Handbags from your first book. I get many many compliments on them. My favorite of these would be a combination of the Teal Scallop, but I really like the shape of the Green Starburst. And, then I have always thought that making a smaller bag to match and carry inside would be nice. So happy to see all these new versions.

    • eileenroche

  • kay43026

I love them all…but the scalloped edge is really pretty!!

  • Cheryl Burton

Love them all but if picking just one the teal and jumps of the page for me.
I also would like to thank you for being a inspiration to me.

  • Diane Cockman

I love the teal and white scallop. Next would be the red. It is so hard to choose as they are all beautiful.

  • Dianne DePascale

I have never made a bag and always wanted to try it. I have seen many patterns, books, etc., and never like them as much as these. These are classy, professional looking and very organized which is what I like the best. I love the teal and scallop purse and the clutch as well for quick errands. They are all truly beautiful.

  • Paule-Marie

I like the teal scalloped bag. the scallops soften the bag’s look

  • Mike

The work shown here is very nice…….
You may get your work done for embroidery digitizing from here also……..

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to win the handbag collection! They all are really nice. I can just see them in many different fabrics to suit your mood and occasion. • Gail hynes

Red diamond does it for me!! However, I think the ones I’m designing in my mind are going to be my new favorites.

  • Darlene Gerber

I really like the small clutch bag. I’m 53 and many of friends really like the retro look of the clash. Thanks for a chance to win!

  • Donna G.

They’re all so wonderful, but I’d have to say the teal scallop and the small clutch are my favorites. I may have to make one of each!

  • Marilyn K

I love the details on all of them, but the shape of the red purse seems to be what I need the most for carrying all my “necessary” stuff.

  • Connie

I’d like to make the teal scallop, to me it says summertime at the Jersey Shore in a classic way.

  • Peggy Reynolds

I really like both handbag series. I like the lace pocket, so I would have to say the teal bag. But it’s difficult to say as they are all so lovely. Be designing.

  • Celeste B

I love the scalloped pocket on the teal one. And with a matching clutch it would be perfect.

  • Ann Eckert

I love the teal bag best, they’re all great, but I like pockets to keep everything where I can readily find them. Thanks for adding more options for purses!

  • Judith Davis

I really like all of them, but the teal scalloped bag is my favorite!

  • Debbie J

Oh my, this is a hard decision. It is between the Red Diamond bag, and the Teal Scalloped bag. but then, I like the Green Starburst one, too. But I think I’d use the teal one the most. It is a really hard decision. I think I may just have to order the book before too long.

  • judit z

Love the scalloped outside pocket…. About the only thing I would add is a zipper to make sure when it turns over, falls on floor everthing in it will not come flying out. Juditz

  • Sherrie Lilly

I love all of these examples but the Teal scalloped is my favorite. I am going to make that one. I also loved how Nancy customized the pockets on the inside to hold specific items. I will have to look at what is in my purse and customize the interior pockest to fit. Thanks for the great ideas. Please give the sizes of the bags.

  • Lynn Heinonen

What is it about the teal and scallop bag that makes it a favorite! I love the colors but the scallop design really stands out.

  • Tina Williams

    Teal scallop! Love it!!!!!!

  • Robyn Morris

I REALLY like them all but the first one I will probably make is the
Scallop edge lace…..for those who think it looks like underwear, well, if it is such pretty underwear you might as well show it off
;-)). I see myself making all 4 of the bags. Making the bags from Designer Handbags 1 has been so fun to make and I am so looking forward to the next generation. THANK you Nancy and Eileen for the joy that you bring us.

  • Barbara

I LOVE all of them. It’s hard to pick one. I am a big fan of all your bags. Are you going to do a segment on Nancy’s show like you did for the Designer bags? You make it so easy to follow directions. Thanks.

  • Tammy Hammond

I absolutely love the scalloped teal one….so cool to have embroider and a custom look!

I love them all and have already watched the Sewing with Nancy shows, both 1 & 2. They were great. My favorite bag is the Teal Scalloped Pocket Purse. I can’t wait to see the full instructions for that one. Good Job!!

  • Patty Schrock

I really like the teal one with scallops.

  • Susan Burns

I love all your bags, from the last series to this new one. For the new series I love the teal scallop, as teal is my favorite color, and I love anything that even hints of lace in the embroidery world. Thanks so much!

  • Bonnie Gray

I love the teal scallops pocket bag. Glad you have pockets on the inside too, maybe could put the scallops on the inside pocket too?

  • Linda

They are all great designs, but the teal scallop pocket purse is my favorite. It’s so feminine–I see many possibilities for this style!

  • Cornelia du Preez

Most definetly the teal scallop pocket purse! Would love to see the scollops on the inside pocket.

  • Karen

    I love the red one!

  • Maria S

I have to choose the Teal Scallop. All of my purses have to have an outside pocket.

  • Vicki B.

I choose the teal scalloped. Very sophisticated.

  • Diane Miller

Oh my! It has to be the teal scallop purse! It has so much personality!

  • Glenda

The red one is calling my name. I really like the shape and the color.

  • Carolyn morgan

Oh, to choose, such a hard decision! I am really a teal person, so that would be my choice. To be able to make new handbags from an autographed copy of the book would be absolutely awesome!

  • Kim Tutterow

So hard to pick just one, but I think the teal scallop will be the first one I attempt to re-create!!!!

  • Hi Burke

  • Patty Fiske

  • Linda H

I really love the teal scallop, but the little clutches in different colors are beautiful too!! I am just getting an embroidery machine for Christmas this year and can’t wait to learn to do this type of sewing! I know I’m going to need a lot of help learning, so your instructional videos would be great!! So would this book, as I am really interested in learning to make purses and bags for my family as gifts!

  • Linda

I just love the red bag….thanks for the chance to win…..

  • donna altieri

i like the two tone one., with the linen.

  • Linda Burwick

Decisions..decisions. Each purse has a feature that I like. I like the zipper in the top of the red purse and the style and size of the lime green one, but I think the teal scalloped one is my favorite because of the outside pocket. I guess I need to combine the best of each for my ideal purse.

Do you have an insert pattern that holds most of one’s purse “stuff” in order to make changing purses easier? Then all I would have to do is lift the insert out of one and drop it into another.

  • Mary Haggenmaker

I love the Teal color, but it looks like it is wearing a pair of panties. It just sort of hit me that way. My best bet would probably be the red one.

  • Bridget Cheatham

That teal scallop bag is gorgeous! It looks feminine and kind of vintage. I could see that style becoming one of my favorites…and I’m already thinking of other color/fabric combinations I would like to try.

  • Judy G

I really like the shape of the red purse, but love outside pockets. Can I put the scallop pocket on the red purse? And I really love clutches and the embroidered clutch is so adorable. I would probably have to make both.

Judy, you can definitely mix and match the details on all of the purses. The red bag would be adorable with the lace pocket!

  • Barbara

They’re all so exciting! Red is my favorite color, but the small clutch is the one that made my heart beat a little faster!

  • Nancy Weber

I love the little green clutch purse. I have made several types of purses, but I am intimidated by the closure mechanism on the clutch. Purses are fun to make and I can see why you and Nancy are so over the moon about making them!

  • Claudia Wade

    I adore that red bag!

  • Doree Shandera

If I can only pick one, red diamond it is!!

  • Patty Sack

My favorite is the teal scallop bag, Love it!

I like external pockets so that one gets my vote, the are so handy for sunglasses shopping lists etch. I sure would like to know how to make those coin purses, that’s another thing I really like and find handy, I have I use just for keys so they don’t get lost.

  • Terri L.

Most definitely the teal with scallops. Beautiful!!!

  • Carol Kapsalis

  • ginger

That teal with scalloped pocket is beautiful! Makes me think of the beach!

  • Maggie Potter

I love all the bags, but I guess my favorite is the Red Diamond. I have the designer handbags 1, and I love it.

  • Ena Hitt

the teal/blue one with the scallop pocket would be my choice! I used your first book today & love it!!

  • Vicky Isliefson

I like the red one. The shape looks familiar. Is it one of Nancy’s Trace ‘n Create patterns. I’m afraid the teal bag looks like it is wearing Victoria’s Secret lacy topped under pants! The bottom corners look like leg holes.

  • JJ

I would use the green starburst because it is so simple a style that it would be timeless. I would also love to learn the technique for making the the clutch as I like the closure on it and would like to know how to incorporate this closure in some other types of sewing projects.
You and Nancy make a great team. I always know something wonderful is going to develop when you are on the show. Nancy has a way of making all her guests shine and the projects become doable after watching all the tips she has to share.
I know you do this because you love it, but thanks for sharing it with the rest of us so we don’t have to reinvent the wheel so to speak. So we can spend more time making great projects that turn out the first time almost every time.
Happy Holidays to you and Nancy

Such kind words, JJ. Thank you very much.

  • Bonita Harms

I like all 3 of the purses, but if I was pressed to pick just one it would have to be the teal lace.

Look forward to watching “Sewing with Nancy” program about these purses.

Love them all, but the scalloped teal one is superb.

  • Ada Hale

I had attended the “Stitching Sister ” last year in San Marcos CA, and I have just about finished the purse I started when I came home from there, so my favorite purse in this book would be the little clutch, as it would only take one hoop…I could write a book about the stitching and ripping in doing this last purse..
My husband was just wantng a bus ticket out of town…We did have a good laugh when I so thoroughly stitiched the purse handles to the stabalizer, with the purse body still laying over on the sewing table…ha ha ha …Buy I did buy “Handbags 2”, and look forward to doing several from the book, and maybe even tackle the travel set from the first book…I am just a little SLOW…
Thanks for all the great information…Ada Hale, Murrieta, CA

  • Jeanne Hoey

I really like the teal purse! I am just getting started in machine embroidery, and have been watching Nancy for years when I can on my day off from my real estate office. I would like to make some of your purses from your first book as well as the second one.

  • Annette

Eileen, I recently purchased both of your handbag books. My favorite is the little clutch. However I am unable to find the purse frames with the handle tabs as illustrated in your book…Handbags 2…on page 63. I ordered some from Nancy’s Notions but they do not have the handle tabs. Do you sell them on your site? Any help would be appreciated as I want to make some for a wedding party.
    Annette

  • Leslie Hermansen

I really like them all but believe my favorite would be the scallop pocket and then the red diamond.
Where could I find then patterns I am in the process of purchasing the baby lock Destiney, and thought these are some of the most attractive purses I have seen would love to get the pattern but have not seen them. Could you tell me where I could purchase one.
    Than=you

All bags are great! That’s cruel of you to asking us to choose only one favorite 🙂

I find small clutch the best, especially the pattern on it – reminds me of something Oriental, though I am not clear what…

My second favorite is teal bag…

I will start saving from today 🙂
