My shopping “go to” is definitely machine embroidery designs! Can’t get enough of them and can’t stop looking at them. I do even embroider some of them out! Fun, fun, fun!

    • Sue

Oh my gosh! I know at you mean I thought I was the only nutty one that can’t stop looking at new designs. I told myself it was about time to start the embroidery machine and get some of them done. Ha!

      • Sue

I’m not sure If I am doing this correct or not but I forgot to say I am new to this blog. I just left my first reply. I have a Husqvarna Viking Designer and a Singer Embroidery machine. It took me two years to stop being afraid of the darn machine. I really didn’t have the lessons that I needed but since that time I joined an embroidery club at a quilt stop in my small town. I love it and everyone is to nice and supportive. Thank you for letting me join in.

        • Ed Lawso

I’ve been called a “design junkie” and guess I am. I buy at the store, online and on ebay. I done some pretty good work on shirts and sweatshirts. Starting my first quilt using their stipple method. Wish me luck.

  • Nancy Nebeker

I have a thing for organizers- bags, plastic boxes etc and things that can be configured for more than one use. I am facinated by “estate jewelry” that you can wear as a pin or as a pendant by removing the pin mechanism. I keep my current projects assembled in the bags so all the parts( patterns, fabric, stabilizer, buttons etc) are all in one place ready to go.

Can’t wait to see your shirt!

  • Perri Hogue

I just got a new embroidery machine so right now my go to thing is embroidery patterns. There are just so many cute ones out there and there’s just so little time!! I know that I have a lot of them but the next one is just so cute and it’s calling my name!! I do actually stitch some of them out but I’ll never be able to do them all. But they’re just so much fun. And my favorite place to put them is on tshirts.

  • Mary Haggenmaker

It is indeed T-Shirt season once more. I am constantly on the lookout for new and clever ways to personalize and make them ornate. Can hardly wait to see the finished outcome you are working on. The thing that I usually make sure I never run out of is Fray-Chek. I use it on all my embroidery to make sure it never comes apart. I also check out the latest embroideryy thread shades. Gotta have them.

  • Susan Burns

Can you believe it, my shopping go to are pincushions and books and patterns on making them. They make great gifts, and the folks who recieve them seem to really like them. I keep a list of who I have gifted them to so they only get one from me. I want to make them happy, not make them all laugh over my hobby!

  • Maria Fortunato

Will you be doing an event in the Chicago suburban area anytime in the next year or so? I live in Glenview, 25 miles north of downtown Chicago.

  • Vicki

My go to item is also a tee shirt, and I really like slippers, all kinds and colors of slippers.

  • Sharon

Love your blog!!!!!! In my hoop right now is an Irish Table runner for my sister-in-law who has been so kind to put me up in her home overnight (once for 2 weeks!!!) When I had to return to Crystal Lake,Il. to do some banking and paperwork, for my mother.

She made the stressful time much more bearable for me. I could never repay her,
but I do know that she will love the Irish poem on the table runner.

  • Cora Hayes

Whats in my Hoop? Right now I am working on Custom Boutique Dresses with Appliques on them. I have been doing custom sewing for over 23 years. I love making Special items. I love learning new things to do.

  • Marge Geraci

I am so thankful for your magazine and your blog! I have learned so very much from you. The joy I get from my embroidery machine would not be near as fulfilling if it were not from your knowledge and willingness to share it with all of us. Thanks So Much!

    Hi Eileen,
Nothing in my hoop right now—both machines are in the shop getting new thread cutting assemblies. I am having withdrawal symptoms!! About all I can do is play with the thread, and occasionally rub a piece of fabric or two. I have made a list of all my stabilizers, and have decided to make one of your “little black tees” when I get them back. I have made a few sets of dish towels for Christmas so far, and a couple of bags. I love working on towels and tee shirts.

I have managed to come down with a nasty case of shingles, and since they say it is caused by stress, it must be because I miss my machines. Yes, plural, I have two embroidery machines, and there is no better sound than both of them running full blast at the same time!

Take care, and have a fun cruise.

Can anyone tell me if the “Perfect Alighment Software” works on the Brother 4500-D machine (that’s what I have).

I have a gift certificate to the Embroidery Designs magazine store that expires on July 10th, so I need to know pretty soon.

All the description says is that it works on Brother machines. It doesn’t specify which Brother machines.

    Thank you.

  • Mitzi

just finished quilting a complete 75″ x 65″ project, entirely on my embroidery module. thank you, Eileen for your magazine, tips, and tools that have helped it make it all come together!

Just finished sewing some patriotic angels to put in the thank you cards for the wonderful bbq we went to for the 4th. Havent used my mega hoop yet so looking forward to it but trying to figure out how I’m going to save on stabilizer looks like I will use more as I have to use the big hoop each time so was hoping I could get away with using less I’m sure there is a simple solution. Anyways thank forr the great tips.

I have seen the onesies that a skirt is added. It has a band, buttons on the band, and the skirt is curved on the one side when it meets on the side. Does anyone know where I can find directions on how to do this? Thanks for your help.

I always get so much inspiration from the Designs websites. Thank you. Right now I am working on Lingerie bags and toiletries bags for our Christmas Craft Sale at the Seniors complex where I live. The funds raised goes towards our entertainment for the year as well as our New Year’s Eve party.

    Hi Eileen,
I love Stipple stuff. I almost bought the newest set, and at the last minute saw my largest hoop wouldn’t be large enough.
My largest hoop is 240mm x 140mm. If I were to use an editing program to shrink the designs down that much would there be a lot of distortion due to density?
Any chance those of us with smaller systems can get in on this pretty set?

    Hi Eileen,
I should have written this note years ago. I want to say thank you for such a nice article you did on one of my designs. It showed how color can change the look of ONE quilt.
I still take this magazine to show at my trunk shows so other people can see how different a quilt can change just by a total makeover in color.
    Love your magazine.

  • Marcia

I would like to know what stabilizer etc I should use on blocks for an inside door hanger.

My idea of the perfect vacation is staying at home all by myself, letting everyone think I went away, and play at my machine with no interruptions. I’ve got several of your stipple CDs and I would love to have the perfect placements CD. I can only dream. Hubby has Alzheimers and he doesn’t like going anywhere. Thanks for reading.

I am presently embroidering on bath towels. I do wish they would come out with a Snap Hoop for the Viking Machines. It would make it so much easier. I have a Designer I and a Viking Ruby. Love your blog!

    • Sue

How do you like your Designer? Now that I am learning more about it I really do like it. I have the first Hus embroidery machine that came out that had the programn cards. I just like the machine Hus machines because they are very well built. I wish I had the money to upgrade.

  • Hi there Eileen,

I am an avid machine embroiderer. I have your books and have done several of the projects. I love the designs. I am curious about the snap hoop, but wonder if anyone has heard or experienced problems with the magnet interfering with the computer portion of the sewing machine? I have a Bernina 830.

I think the fortune cookies would be great for our Mother/daughter dinner at church. We could use your idea and put in something about each person like you did at your wedding.

I have used a different technique for making fortune cookies several years ago. We had some friends going through some health issues. I filled the cookies with Bible verses. I put a dozen in a Chinese take-out box.

    Eileen,

Some times when i need a place or rather a way to store larger pcs of fabric I use a multiple skirt hanger with clips, saves on the ironing too, or a pant hanger. Now for the smaller pcs you can store scraps on a circular ring by color and punch a hole in the corner by folding the corner down on itself about 1/2″ punch hole through both layers for durability and you can use a spot of fray check to asure no raveling. Hope this helps good luck with you remodeling. Sonja Broken Arrow , Oklahoma

    Eileen:
I recently purchased some designs from AppliqueJunkie.com. The designs downloaded well but they had no instructions with them. I e-mailed them about the instructions but have had no reply.

Since they advertised in your most recent magazine, I thought you would like to know about this and also want to know if anyone else has had this problem?

  • Linda

Have had a Pfaff creative 2144 for several years. I bought the machine for my future retirement and bought it locally so I could get plenty of help. A few weeks after purchase, the business closed and I am left to fend for myself. I am now retired and trying to learn all the ins and outs. Can’t get to classes because I babysit for my new granddaughter. I just signed up for my third Craftsy class (yours) and love them all! I have not embroidered on knits and want to try some projects for my 2 new little ones. Thanks for your technique section and your help on Craftsy.

  • Jane

I am new to your blog, I left a lot of yahoo groups because of too much email but this I will enjoy. I have the first Babylock Ellure they made, the little window on the machine isn’t any help but I manage. With all of the new machines out there it is hard to get motivated to use mine, when I know things could be so much easier.

Thank you for sharing your time and talents with us…

I have a Janome MC9700 which i have never used for embroidering as i do lack confidence. Do you have a step by step DVD video that i can buy to teach myself? Luv your site, first time here. HELP, please, as i’m anxious to learn.

    • Carolyn Dillinger

I own an Elna 9500 made by Janome and I bought some books by Jeanine Twigg. The name of one of them is ‘Machine Embroidery Essentials, How to Stabilize, Hoop and Stitch Decorative Designs’ On the bottom of the book’s cover, it says, Designs and techniques for use with Baby Lock, Bernina, Brother, Elna, Husqvarna, Viking, JANOME,Kenmore, Singer, and White Embroidery machines.

It can be used with many brands of machines ande your machine is one of them. Jeanine Twigg has several books out on Machine Embroidery and I thought that they were helpful to me.

      Hope this helps.

Could you please explain “feed burner” to me. How do I get one?
How much does it cost to subscribe to your Blog?
It is obvious that I am very new to the world of embroidery.
Thank you for your email re how to get started on embroidery.

  • Kathy

Hi , I ‘m new to the site, and also to embroidery. I have a brother innov-is 2800D and just heard about the snap hoop for continuous embroidery, does the magnetic hoop hold the fabric tightly in place. I have been looking for reviews and can not find any. I am very interested in purchasing one of the hoops to learn to embroider a table runner.

  • Jane

    Hi!
I have been a fan of yours for some time now. I hope this is a proper forum to ask a trouble shooting question. I have a Babylock Ellageo 3 and have been embroidering away for years on it. Now I have a message when I am all set up to embroider that I need to attach the hoop. What could cause the noop from not being recognized? The machine works perfectly without the embroidery module. I was embroidering fine two days ago.

I am looking to purchase Viking Husquavarna H Class 600e. Does anyone have any comments on this machine?

  • Linda Horton

I am excited to have found your blog. I purchased a 6 needle babylock machine in July of 2011 and am ashamed to say, I really have not done very much with it. I am trying to get started with doing some items and I want to know if you can take a design and change the recipe for it using a digitizing software because I am trying to use the same design on a t-shirt, a hoodie and a windbreaker type jacket. Any suggestions are appreciated.

HI–Eileen–I was wondering will there be, or is there a snap hoop
for the newer singers–Singer Futura XL400–for the 10×6 hoop–
I think it would be in demand–or even a continuous position hoop
for this machine—I hope I am posting this in the right place–
    thank you pat

I have been hunting for a simple black map of the island on Nantucket that I can purchase for use on my embroidery machine. So far I have search quit a few design websites with no luck. Does anyone know where I can purchase a design like this? If so could you let me know. Thanks.

  • Linda Lester

I’m having a problem with the no-sew pin cushion from Machine Embroidered Quilting and Applique, page 49. Should there be a correction to this design? I stitched color 1 and then lay another piece of fabric down and stitch color 2, but the stitching lines are placed exactly on top of each other leaving no border between colors 1 and 2. Also the stippling stitches seem to be stitched out of order as bean stitch is stitched before adding the next piece of fabric, and consequently the next layer of fabric does not get tacked down and just leaves the stippling stitches for the edge. Also I find that 5 layers of fabric plus the stabilizer makes the top of the pin cushion rather thick. Am I doing something wrong. I have not modified the design at all and am following the stitching and placement of fabric step by step as in the book. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello Eileen, I hope you can help me as I want to buy some of the towels called days of the week towels. I am also interested in buying the color banded towels which do not have the days of the week imprinted on them. If you have some of these types of towels for sale or if you know where I might buy them, please email me to the above email address. Thanks you for a prompt reply. Jeanne Berry

  • Judy

Hi, Eileen and readers! I have just found you and am so excited. I bought a Baby Lock Esante for embroidery last year and had no idea you could use it for quilting. I have just started looking into hoop quilting. I started a precious quilt for my first baby granddaughter but never finished it. I am embarassed to say she is soon turning 6 and it is still not done. I am determined to complete it for her 7th birthday in July and want to quilt in using my machine. Can I stipple it in sections, as the top is completed or do I need to take it apart and stitch designs on each square? So excited to find you! Can wait to get a copy of your magazine. Judy

  • Judy

Uh….previously, that should have been “Can’t” wait to get a copy of your magazine. HaHa.

  • Cindy

Just to let you know – I recently purchased the “snap monster hoop” and I LOVE it! I am making a baby quilt for my granddaughter who is due end of June and I could not have quilted it without “snap-hoop” It is so easy to use and fast. I was hesitant to buy it at first because of cost – but it is well worth every cent!! THANK-YOU

  • Carolyn Havens

I hope someone can help me, I recently got a Babylock Endurance ll
6 needle emb. mach. Does anyone know if the Designer Gallery software will save the designs in PES so they don’t/won’t change the colors I changed in my designs. The program I am using right now will not. I am leaning towards buying the Embordery Works Everyday. Many thanks to anyone that can help me.
    Carolyn

    • Nina

I use Designers Gallery to save and locate my designs. When I upload to my embroidery software (Floriani Total Control Pro) I can then make changes and save it there. I have the Baby Lock Enterprise (10 needle)and the Ellisimo Gold. I leave the original design in Designers Gallery. Hope this helps!

    Hi Eileen!
Got a question about the snap hoops. Does anyone have a problem with them “bouncing” when they are stitching? Mine does all the time even I feel it’s tight on the screws. I have to ” weight it down” to keep it from bouncing so much. Is there something I am doing wrong or is there something else besides the weighing the front down to keep the hoop from bouncing? Would the table that goes under the 6 needle machine keep it from bouncing? Thanks for any help!

I have a Brother Entrepreneur Pro.. I want to embroider business logos on the back of polo & tshirts. I have a 14 inch hoop, but don’t know how to attach the shirt without it embroidering through both the front & back. When I station the hoop on just the back side the fronts don’t stretch enough to fold over the hoop edge. Is there a special hoop I need?

Is there an instruction manual for the Perfect Embroidery Pro? I would love to have something in writing rather than watching videos.

  • Kathryne Bayle

I just found Eileen’s instructions for “preparing Files to Janome machines”. I have been trying to figure out this process from months. (There is no explanation in the manual that I found). Thank you so much, Eileen for these clear instructions. I have subscribed to your blog.

I’m doing the Block of the Month. Why do some months not have all the formats like .exp, .vp3, .vp4

    Hi, Eileen.

Has DIME decided to do away with the monthly free designs? I looked at the three individual programs (PEP, MQE, MQB) and only saw the May designs. I didn’t see June designs in ETS either.

    Thank you.

    Sharon

  • Debbie

I haven’t been able to find the June dose design. Any help?
